"From Coeliac to Coeliac" Project

 

Coeliacs know well how permanent intolerance to gluten plays a major role in their life as it requires them to stick carefully and constantly to a gluten-free diet whereby the allowed and easy to find products are only a very little part of what is commonly offered by restaurants and bars. Two further obstacles for them are the low degree of knowledge amongst people manipulating food and the risk of cross-contamination. As a consequence, Coeliacs experience problems related to dining out and, in general terms, in having a relaxing holiday.

For such reasons Domus Alessandra's host, diagnosed with Coeliac Disease, is happy to offer his commitment in making Coeliacs holiday easier by providing them with the following services:

  • Restaurant Information Service: Coeliacs will be given access to the list of places monitored by the Italian Coeliac Association AIC.

  • Transport to Restaurant Service: Coeliacs with no car will be offered the possibility to make it to the above mentioned restaurants; and why not, they could associate a Pizza to events like an Opera performance in the Arena of Verona or a simple visit to interesting towns;

  • Accommodation Information Service: already on-line, it is available a webpage with a list of links to further websites where accommodation catering for Coeliacs can be found (check "Link" webpage); in Domus Alessandra lounge it will then be possible to have access to further lists of accommodation as published on magazines for Coeliacs;

  • Gluten-free products Information Service: Coeliacs can be given a copy of the "Prontuario AIC" for the easy and correct identification of products suitable to them;

  • Cuisine Service 1: let's cook together...;

  • Cuisine Service 2: have a look at these recipes;

Such services are naturally no-profit. Whereby their implementation requires a cost (eg. petrol, tolls) this can be covered with a free contribution.
